Step by Step Guide
1. Setup – Print, Hole Punch, 3 Ring Binder
To make this guided journal affordable, I formatted it so you can easily print it. You are free to use this guided journal in any way you want, but to get the most benefit print it, hole punch it, and put it in a 3-ring binder.
2. Use a Timer
Journaling is a skill that must be developed. This is especially true when you are working through mindfulness exercises that could be uncomfortable for you. This is a healthy and normal process when developing a skill like journaling. Please plan on 25 minutes every day. Of course, if you need more time then take it! But start with 25 minutes.
3. Anticipate Distractions & Interruptions
When you journal for 25 minutes you will be interrupted! It is best to anticipate the interruptions and distractions and try to plan have 25 uninterrupted minutes of journaling. This is just a word from experience. The goal is to get into the “flow” and that cannot happen if you are interrupted every few minutes.
4. Dedicate Time in Your Schedule & Calendar
Set aside more time than you think you need to write. Although I recommend using a timer for 25 minutes, this is ONLY to keep you writing. If you start to really get in the flow, do not let a timer stop you! 25 minutes is just the start!
